Spoil=to plunder, to gather the valuable items after a battle. ( gold, silver, and anything of value)
Psalm 138:2.I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
In the Old Testament they would fight physical battles. They would fight for territory. They would fight for revenge. Many times after the battle they would gather the spoil and take it back to their own homes. It was like the reward for winning.
His Word is placed above His name. This is why Satan tries to keep us from the Word. Its value is really priceless. When we are knowledgeable of His Word we are less likely to be defeated. We can be still in the presence of chaos. We can have peace no matter the outcome.
The Word is our weapon. We have to be skilled in it to use it. Jesus said it is written. If Jesus used it to put Satan in his place then we are already defeated without it.
The Word will comfort you. It will encourage you. It will heal you. The Word is like medicine. We need to take it daily. Sometimes all we need is one scripture to fight with. When the Word becomes our arsenal we will better equipped to face the enemy.
I often think of Jacob when he wrestled with the Lord. He came away limping but blessed. We may not win every battle. The situation may not turn out the way you wanted it to. When you know the Word you can still have the victory.
Let's decide today to go after the Word like it was the one thing that would change everything. It's our spoil after the battle. It's our spoil when life is beating us down. It's our spoil even when we don't win. For every arrow from the enemy the Word is our shield.
